The Off-Season Is On

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Wrap up time is upon us.  We’re using last week and this week to finish up everything that was the 2007 BlueClaws season and then before you know it, it’s 2008 as far we’re concerned.  The ballpark is being “broken down” and cleaned up and then it’s time to start planning next year.

By now you’ve heard of all the awesome things that happened here this year.  Ryan Howard, Rod Barajas, and Shane Victorino all stopped in for a couple of rehab games.  We hit our 3 millionth fan.  And we led all of the state and South Atlantic League in attendance for a seventh straight year.  Now within the next couple of days, we have to begin planning 2008 to make sure it’s equally as great.

Fans ask us all the time, “So do you guys have the winter off?” Or, “what do you do when the team leaves?”  The fact is, the office is even busier between September and April than it is once the season hits.  Almost everything that you see going on in the ballpark during the season is in planning now.

The last event of the ’07 season, however, is just over two weeks away.  Wingstock returns for our second huge concert event of the year.  The planning for this event started the day after last year’s took place so it should be nothing short of great.  We’ve got 4 huge acts coming (Paul Rodgers, Little Feat, Foghat, and The Marshall Tucker Band) and thousands of fans coming to see it.  Hope to see you here!
