Another Treat from the Road

Welcome back to Purdue Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland where the BlueClaws will play game two of the final series of the season, a five-gamer…Notes from Salisbury…

Tonight is Matt Wieters Bobblehead Night…Wieters is the top prospect in the Orioles system and is now playing as a catcher in the bigs. Wieters never played with the Shorebirds and is shown in the bobblehead in a Frederick Keys uni.

Matthew Way’s final start…in the regular season is tonight. The BlueClaws may hold back Way a little tonight to set him up as the game one playoff starter. My guess is he gives the BlueClaws five very strong innings as he gears up for Kannapolis.

Austin Hyatt’s…first appearance is tomorrow. Much like Korey Noles, Hyatt could be a main piece of the BlueClaws playoff pitching staff. Hyatt brings ridiculous numbers from his stint with the Crosscutters and will like to be effective in his first outing, giving him confidence to pitch in the playoffs. I’m excited to see how he’ll look tomorrow.

Sebastian Valle…is back in the lineup…He is catching tonight and batting sixth, Valle played 41 games with the BlueClaws in the first half before going to Williamsport to be the everyday catcher. In 51 games with the ‘Cutters, Valle hit .307.

Finally…get excited for the playoffs Lakewood…This is only the second time the BlueClaws have ever made it and these guys have worked really hard all year to be one of the four teams in the post-season. Come out on September 11th and experience what will be some exciting action on the field. Shameless plug, but game one is very important too and its on Wednesday, Sept. 9th in Kannapolis… the link to listen can be found here.
