Arizona Fall League Update
They’re winding it down now in the Arizona Fall League, with just a couple of games left. Scottsdale, with the Phillies prospects, is 13-16 and has just two more games to go. Phoenix, at 18-12, has clinched the division and will play in the championship game against Peoria. Onto the recap…
November 11th…Mike Cisco started and gave up five runs (two earned) over three innings in a 12-3 loss to Phoenix. Scott Mathieson, who did not allow a run in his first 10 innings, has allowed four in his last three after allowing another here…Domonic Brown went 2-4 with 2 RBIs and a triple.
Novmeber 12th…Brown added two more hits (in four at bats)…Tuffy Gosewisch was 0-4 getting the start behind the plate…Good outing for Edgar Garcia, who lowered his ERA to 5.63 after allowing just an unearned run on one hit over 2.2 innings of work…Michael Schwimer gave up a run in the 8th.
Novmeber 13th…Brown (0-4) was the only Phillies player to appear in this 9-2 win over Peo Sagueros. Travis d’Arnaud’s brother, Chase, was 3-4 with 2 RBIs playing third once again.
November 14th…Four former BlueClaws in the lineup for Scottsdale in their 4-2 win over Surprise…Brown went 0-4, Gosewisch 1-4, Steve Susdorf 1-3 with an RBI single, and Troy Hanzawa 0-3 …Mathieson threw a shutout 8th inning for a hold.
November 16th…Brown went 0-2 and Hanzawa 0-3 in an 8-0 loss to Peo Sagueros. Scottsdale only had two hits on the day.
November 17th…Brown’s slump continues as he went 0-5 (and is now 0-15)…Hanzawa went 1-4 and picked up his first hit of the Fall League…Story of the game though was Mike Cisco, who threw four shutout innings to pick up the win. Garcia and Mathieson threw shutout innings of relief and Schwimer allowed one run.
