BlueClaws Announce Playoff Rotation

BlueClaws manager Dusty Wathan has announced the team’s pitching rotation for the upcoming playoff series against Kannapolis, which begins next week:

Game One, Wednesday at KAN: LHP Matthew Way
Game Two, Friday at LAK: RHP Trevor May
Game Three (if nec), Saturday at LAK: RHP Jesus Sanchez

trevormayRHP Trevor May: 3-1, 2.74 ERA, 72.1 IP, 55 H, 41 BB, 88 K…4th round pick last year out of Kelso, Washington…Joined BlueClaws on June 15th…In 12 second-half starts is 3-0, 2.19 ERA…Has allowed just three runs in last four starts (20 innings)…Has walked ten in his last two starts (ten innings)…Committed to University of Washington out of high school but decided to sign with Phillies…Back injury in spring training caused him to miss most of spring and start season in extended spring training…Has struck out one hitter per inning in all but two of his 14 starts with Lakewood.

jesussanchezRHP Jesus Sanchez: 10-6, 3.38 ERA, 133 IP, 132 H, 41 BB, 116 K…Acquired in the 2006 Bobby Abreu trade…Sanchez was a catcher up until Fall Instructional League last year, and has since been moved to the hill…This is his first season as a pitcher, and began 1-4, but is 9-2 since June 12th, with a 2.27 ERA, having walked just 20 hitters in 81 innings…He is tied for 3rd in the SAL in wins…Game three is if necessary.
