ClawCast: Dusty Wathan

s-first-bluefishIt’s that time…the BlueClaws post-season begins in less than 24 hours from here in Kannapolis. Sat down with Dusty Wathan for an interview yesterday at Delmarva (listen here) and we have some snippets for you.

  • On Game One starter Matt Way: “He hasn’t faced Kannapolis and they haven’t faced him. I think that’s an advantage for the pitcher for the most part. Hopefully he can take his regular season success into the first game of the playoffs.”
  • On closer Santo Hernandez, who has not allowed an earned run in 10.1 innings since returning to Lakewood: “Santo’s an even-keel kind of guy. He’s fit in perfectly as a closer. We were searching for someone and we got Santo. He’s been great.”
  • Gose/Garcia: “If we can get Gose/Garcia on base, it really disrputs everything and gives Murphy and d’Arnaud better pitches to hit.”
  • “This is what you play for. You want players to develop and move on but ultimately you want to play for something. We have that opportunity. Should be exciting.”

Game on.
