‘Claws Win Two South Atlantic League Awards
The Lakewood BlueClaws have been honored with their fourth South Atlantic League Club Merit Award in 2009, and GM Geoff Brown has won his third GM of the Year Award, it was announced yesterday by SAL President Eric Krupa.
“Both of these are team awards,” said Brown. “The Club Merit Award is chosen by the other 15 clubs, so obviously it means a lot to be recognized.”
Lakewood also received the award in 2001, 2002, and 2004.
“The General Manager of the Year Award might say General Manager on the plaque,” said Brown, “but this is one that you absolutely can”t win without a great staff. We certainly have that, and I’m grateful to them for all of their hard work.”
It’s been quite the year for the BlueClaws:
- Second playoff appearance in team history
- Kids Eat Free, with over 75,000 children taking advantage this year
- 4-millionth fan
- 9th straight SAL attendance title

I wanted to give my congrats to the team for a great year. I attended quite a few home games and have to say this is one of the best local activities to take part in. Good Luck in the post season.
