Colvin Apparantly Signs: Future BlueClaw?
Say hello to a potential future Lakewood BlueClaw. The Phillies, according to this report from Louisiana, have signed seventh-round pick Brody Colvin, about eight hours before the midnight deadline. Colvin reportedly gets $900,000 to join the organization and will not head to LSU. From the article…
Colvin was on campus Monday and went through freshman orientation, Mainieri said, but a last-day signing bonus offer of $900,000 from the Philadelphia Phillies lured him away. Philadelphia drafted Colvin the seventh round of the 2009 MLB draft.
Colvin and Mainieri have not spoken since the final offer was made, but the LSU coach said he believes Colvin has accepted the offer and will pursue pro baseball.
Big signing for the Phillies if true…Colvin was the 43rd ranked prospect in the draft per Baseball America. He could be a good one. He also basically replaces the big young arm they lost when they traded Jason Knapp to the Indians.
