Four Former BlueClaws for This Guy

How about Cliff Lee? What can you say? He’s 3-0, 1.13 over his first three starts with the Phillies, and has been pitching like the ace the Phillies thought he was when they went out and got him. Yesterday, Lee allowed one run over eight innings to match his Indians win total in his third Phillies start.

“I could tell in the bullpen that his cutter was better than it was last start,” said Paul Bako, who caught Lee for the third straight start. “The way he works, as quick as he works, with as many strikes as he throws, he’s tough on any lineup.”

It took four former BlueClaws of course to get Lee to the Phillies: Jason Knapp, Carlos Carrasco, Lou Marson, and Jason Donald.

Knapp, by the way, gave up two runs (one earned) over two innings against Augusta on Tuesday, in his first start with Lake County (and the Indians, and since July 11th). That would put him on track to start Sunday, and then, with an off-day Tuesday, Saturday at FirstEnergy Park against Lakewood. That’s speculation on my part, but you can follow the dates yourself if you want.
