6:24: Sanchez pitched much better in his last start in Hagerstown than he did in the one before, when he didn’t get out of the first inning. He’s coming together, but keep in mind this is just his fourth appearance as a pitcher in his life. He converted from catcher in the fall.

6:53: The game got underway a bit late tonight but Jesus Sanchez was ready. He struggled in his first outing here at FirstEnergy Park but tonight…Sanchez strikes out the side in the first. Looked very good, especially his fastball.

6:58: Only five minutes since my last post means it was a quick inning for the BlueClaws bats, they go 1-2-3, all on groundouts to different members of the infield. To the second we go…

7:06: Don’t look now Jason Knapp, but Jesus Sanchez has 6 strikeouts through 2 innings! He allowed a triple after recording two outs, but then Sanchez promptly struck out the next batter…Very impressive. All eight of the outs Sanchez has recorded now at FirstEnergy Park are strikeouts.

7:13: Jack McGeary, much like Sanchez has all of his six outs now the same way, groundouts. He’s got another 1-2-3 inning.

7:24: Jesus Sanchez Strikeout Watch : 7….He got out of trouble after a one-out double, but he works out nicely.

7:32: Unconventional 1-2-3 inning as a double-play erases a walk. Still 0-0.

7:41: Jesus Sanchez Strikeout Watch : 8, His pace has slowed, but hes still throwing a shutout. Worked out of another inning with a runner in scoring position. Still scoreless.

7:53: Sanchez works through trouble in the 5th…77 pitches, could be done? 0-0.

8:13: D’Arby Myers…a three-run single? Actually two…Murphy and Collier scored on the single, Hanzawa after Myers was caught in a rundown…heady play by Hanzawa…3-0 Lakewood.

8:15: Tejeda coming in…5 shutout innings for Sanchez, eligible for the win.

8:21: For the third time today, a BlueClaws pitcher has struck out the side..Tejada allowed a hit but struck out three.

8:35: Harold Garcia singled to lead off the inning, followed by an Anthony Gose double. Garcia came home on the double and later, Gose on a wild pitch. 5-0 ‘Claws, top 7.

8:57: Walter Tejeda and then Jacob Diekman ran themselves into trouble issuing three walks in the inning, but Diekman, in his first appearance from the ‘pen, struck out back-to-back hitters only allowing one run in the inning.

9:21: The Suns battle back with another run in the top of the 8th, still a three-run lead at 5-2.

10:07: Lakewood added a run in the 8th and Santo Hernandez struck out the side in the 9th (18 total Ks today for Lakewood). 6-2 final score and the ‘Claws are now 8-6 on the season.

Congrats to Jesus Sanchez on his first professional victory.
