This is our 600th post! Thanks for reading. After a game last night in which they led 7-3 doing to the 8th inning, the BlueClaws look to bounce back tonight against Greensboro.

LWD- RHP Jon Velasquez (6-2, 5.48)
GBO- LHP Wade Korpi (1-1, 3.00)

Korpi is a reliever making a start after GBO had to play 2.5 games on Friday.

Go Go Gose…Anthony Gose has stolen 35 bases on the year, eight steals in the last four games, and four yesterday. The BlueClaws team record is 59 in a year (Roberson, 2003) and five in a game (Moran, 2004).

5:30: 80s, clear skies, another perfect day…remember 12:35 pm first pitch tomorrow.

5:31: Travis d’Arnaud has homered on back-to-back days.

6:33: Red jerseys today.

7:13: Lakewood gets a break on an E6 but the BlueClaws leave 1st and 3rd as Murphy lines out and Hamilton grounds out to end the inning.

7:27: 1-2-3 for Lakewood in the 2nd…still no score…Velasquez, who has allowed 25 runs in his last 29 innings, had a 1-2-3 first. Interesting test for him tonight 2nd time facing a very good lineup. GBO scored five off of JV last week in three innings in Lakewood on 5/22.

7:43: That’s two for GBO…a HR from Ben Lasater (9) and a SAC fly from Justin Jacobs. So Lakewood will have to play from behind tonight after scoring first in each of the first two games of the series.

7:55: Another missed chance for Lakewood, who wastes a leadoff double from Mintken. You only get so many chances, and this one is against a reliever making a spot start.

7:56: Ah the ol’ sumo wrestling in-game promotion…kind of wimpy, they’re dancing around the “ring” like Ali against Foreman, except these guys only have about 60 seconds.

8:10: Delmarva ace Rick Zagone gives up nine over two innings, KAN leads 2nd place DEL 9-3…Lakewood down 2-0 to the bottom of the 4th after they leave another in scoring position.

8:30: Three in a row for d’Arnaud…he has homered for the 3rd straight game, this a 3-run blast…3-2 Lakewood.

8:46: And another…Lakewood gets one more on an E5…3 GBO errors in the inning have given Lakewood a 4-2 lead. With DEL down 9-3, a chance to pick up a game on their two closest pursuers.

9:05: Well it looks like they’ve forgotten about last night…3 more, RBIs for Gose (2B), d’Arnaud (1b) and Hamilton (SAC fly)…7-2.

9:21: Garcia an E4 allowing a pair to score…now 7-4. Velasquez out…5.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 K, 2 BB…Hernandez in.

9:37: He does more than run…Gose a 2 RBI double…9-4 at the stretch.

9:49: Now 9-5 after Hernandez allows his first homer of the year (to Synan). Ariail throwing.

10:04: Another run for Lakewood, amazing what happens when you walk the bases loaded. Collier SAC fly. 10-5. Ariail in.

10:38: Game over, Claws win it 11-6…here is the box.
