The BlueClaws have won three in a row, and today is the finale of a three-game series here in Eastlake, OH. The two Lakewood wins in this series have been 5-2 and 4-2 and after today it’s back to Lakewood for three in two with Delmarva.

With a Win…The BlueClaws ensure being at least three games up on Delmarva heading into their three-game series, which means they are still in first place coming out of the series no matter what happens.

Starting On the Right Foot…Lakewood’s starters have allowed just 12 runs in their last 62 innings (1.74 ERA)

Streaking Towards the Playoffs…The BlueClaws have six seperate win streaks of at least three games this year, including the current one, and have yet to lose three games in a row at any point this season.

12:05: Another perfect day. Low 70s, sunny.

12:06: Tyler Cloyd has put 21 runners on over his last two starts, covering 12.1 innings, but has allowed just four earned runs in that span. His loss in his last broke a five game winning streak, dating back to May 7th.

1:22: Lakewood wastes a leadoff double in the 2nd from Travis Mattair, who is now 15 for his last 41. Cloyd had a 1-2-3 first and 0-0 to the bottom of the 2nd.

1:28: 1-6-3 DP nicely turned by Cloyd…onto the 3rd.

1:47: Weird play…With a run in, Travis Mattair blows a bunt that’s on the line foul, which you can’t do. And the run scored…now 2-0 Lake County after a rough inning for Tyler Cloyd.

1:59: 2-2 now after RBIs for Hamilton (2b) and Hanzawa (1b) and Lakewood left 1st/3rd w/ one out after Hanzawa’s single.

2:10: To the 5th…61 pitches for Cloyd…still 2-2.

2:18: 2 HRs…Garcia a solo shot and Susdorf a 2-run blast…5-2.

2:43: Another run…on an Alan Schoenberger ground out…Gose is out of the game…6-2 to the bottom of the 6th…82 pitches so far for Cloyd.

2:58: Cloyd goes 6, 2 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks, 5 Ks…Ariail in…6-2 bottom of the 7th.

3:14: One run off Ariail who they have to take out as he brings the tying run to the plate…Bergh bailed out by a diving Hamilton who was taken out by a sliding Garcia earlier in the inning. Crazy game…6-3 to the 8th.

3:35: A weird game but a game Lakewood is now three outs away from winning…7-3 to the 9th.

3:48: Congrats to Brendan Akashian, his first two affiliated RBIs…a 2-run single…9-3…Bergh still in there for the bottom of the 9th.

4:16: Phew…Bergh gives up four in the 9th, BJ gets the save, and Lakewood wins a game they should have coasted in by a score of 9-7. But a win is a win, and the BlueClaws now lead Delmarva by 4 in the North, with 9 to play.
