Welcome back to the Cannon for the finale of this four-game series and eight-game road trip on which the BlueClaws are 2-1/4-3…Game notes hereAudio here (at 6:50).

LWD: RHP Jason Knapp (2-6, 3.40)
KAN: RHP Stephen Sauer (4-3, 2.91)

Knapp Time…Jason Knapp hasn’t won since May 2nd, but that’s because the BlueClaws have scored just 41 runs in his 16 starts this year…He has a 1.64 ERA over his last seven starts with 48 Ks in 38 innings pitched…Knapp has, however, only lasted five innings in his last three starts, due to a high pitch count.

One More Day Off…for Anthony Gose, who is 1-19 in this park this year…This will give him a mini break, with three days off in a row with no game tomorrow.

Murph Still Rolling…Jim Murphy is 8-15 over his last five games with nine runs scored, a home run, two doubles, seven RBIs, and six walks.

5:03: Weather…hot but clear, another nice day.

7:10: 3 batters and 3 groundouts for Lakewood in the first, onto the bottom half.

7:28: Ouch…Knapp out after 2/3 of an inning and 5 runs in…three hits and three walks…Jordan Ellis now in.

7:33: 23 minutes on the inning…Knapp’s line: 2/3 IP, 6 R/ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 0 K…6 runs in as Ellis allowed a single for the final run of the inning…2nd biggest inning of the year against the BlueClaws.

7:54: Lakewood still looking for their first baserunner, onto the home 3rd…6-0 KAN.

8:11: A baserunner for Lakewood, Korby Mintken singles with one out but is left at 2nd…still 6-0.

8:32: Ellis doing a great job, having allowed just one run over 4.2 innings, this after he had given up 10 in 4.1 with Lakewood so far in his first three appearances…still 7-0 heading to the 6th.

8:48: Two for Lakewood…RBI GR double by d’Arnaud and groundout by Murphy, now 45 and 46 RBIs respectively to lead the team…7-2, Ballestas now in for the BlueClaws.

9:09: Garcia a 2-run HR makes it 7-4 and Murphy lines into a hard-luck DP, 3-3, with runners on the corners and the tying run at the plate.

9:32: Now 8-4 in the 8th…Remenowsky, all-star closer, throwing in the pen.

9:49: Game over…9-4 win for Kannapolis…4-4 road trip for Lakewood, who splits the season series with KAN 6-6. Knapp’s ERA went from 3.4 to 4.01.
