Game 92: BlueClaws (54-37) vs Lexington (46-46)
Welcome to FirstEnergy Park for tonight’s game between the BlueClaws and Legends…the clubs have split the first two of this four-game series…game notes here…audio here (at 4:50).
LWD: RHP Heitor Correa (6-6, 3.56)
LEX: RHP Jordan Lyles (5-7, 2.92)
On Correa…He had thrown 6 shutout two-back at Kannapolis but gave up four in the seventh without getting an out. Then last time, he gave up six in just 4.2 against Bowling Green. His ERA has risen from 2.82 to 3.56 over those two outings.
On Lyles…The #6 prospect in the Houston system, he had a chance to play football at South Carolina but signed with the Astros the day he graduated high school. They skipped him last time so he hasn’t pitched since 7/7. Like Jason Knapp, he is 18 and is striking hitters out like it’s going out of style (118 in 95.2 innings).
3:03: Weather is perfect. Watching JA Happ and the Phils on the big screen right now.
4:55: Happ by the way is now 7-0…Correa warming up. Should be a good one. Watch for plate ump Matt Cumbee, definately a hitter’s umpire.
5:33: d’Arnaud now has hit in 11 straight, an RBI single to drive in Gose (leadoff walk)…1-0.
5:45: That didn’t last long…Correa allows an RBI double by Steve Brown…1-1.
6:16: Mattiar another double to right-center…2nd 3rd none out in the 4th.
6:22: Had ‘em loaded with none out…Hanzawa a line drive SAC fly to left-center before D’Arby Myers blooped a single in which Mattair was gunned out at home…then Gose grounded out…so 1 run and a 2-1 lead.
6:31: Correa has 4 Ks through and compunds the Lakewood run with a 0…2-1 to the home 5th.
6:51: There’s an inning…4 runs on 5 hits…RBI singles for Hamilton and Hanzawa, and a two-run single by D’Arby Myers…Now 6-1 for Correa heading to the 6th…Give Dusty credit for twice holding runners at 3rd and benefitting when the next hitters picked up base hits.
7:15: Oy…now 6-5 for Lakewood as Lexxy scores 3 in the top, two because of an error by Travis Mattair on a misplayed groundball and then a throw to the wrong base.
7:43: 6-5 to the bottom of the 8th…2.2 shutout for Bergh.
8:00: Clockwork for BJ…1-2-3 in the 9th and a 6-5 win for Lakewood.
