Game Six: BlueClaws (2-3) at Lake County (1-4)

Welcome to Classic Park. Game notes here. Tyler Cloyd looks for his first win. He threw a fine ballgame on Opening Night but was the victim of hitting, mainly his team only scored one run in a 2-1 loss to Delmarva.

6:21: Interview with Moose Mattair coming up on the pre-game show. Audio here.

6:24: They just took the tarp off the field…they’re lining the field as we type. Cloyd is loosening up in the pen.

6:25: Joey Mahalic, a RHP, throws for Lake County. Mahalic and Mattair both signed with Oregon State but both went pro after being drafted.

6:41: DP negates leadoff single from Garcia, who is now 7 for his last 11…0-0 bottom 1.

6:53: Cloyd a little unlucky…A well-placed double, and two balls that could have been caught put LCO up 1-0…d’Arnaud completes a strike out/throw out DP to end the first.

7:07: 3 batters, 3 ground outs for Cloyd…1-0 LCO, top 3.

7:31: Four in the inning for Lakewood. An exciting combination of a groundout, single, wild pitch, and SAC fly. But it counts the same…4-1 ‘Claws.

7:55: Mattair fights off about 5 pitches with two strikes and gets a base hit to left scoring two…6-1 Lakewood.

8:15: Collier is scalding hot…2 doubles last night, 2 run triple here, he has scored 3 times tonight…9-1 Lakewood, bottom 5 in the rain.

8:36: Still raining…’Claws up 9-3 bottom 6…Cloyd looks sharp.

8:53: Strange rain delay…they pulled the tarp out onto the field without stretching it out across the field, they just dumped the roller.

8:55: Now they re-rolled up the tarp. Santo Frias warming up for LCO…9-3 Lakewood.

9:08: Frias couldn’t grip the ball, now the tarp is back on the field…10-3 Lakewood in the 7th. LW scored on a single by Murphy, to 2B on a throwing error, third on a wild pitch, and in on a Troy Hanzawa single. In a delay.

9:52: Game over. They called it after a lengthy delay. ‘Claws in 10-3 (the run in the 7th counts, even though LCO didn’t get to bat in the bottom half). Cloyd wins it (1-0) and gets a complete game in the process.
