Games 52 and 53: BlueClaws (31-20) at Delmarva (26-22)

UPDATED…Delmarva wins game 1, 2-1, game 2 postponed…double-header at 5:05 Friday.

Let’s play two…double-header today between the BlueClaws and Delmarva Shorebirds. Lakewood leads Delmarva by 3.5 games in the SAL Northern Division. The teams have six scheduled meetings between now and the All-Star break.

Game One (5:35 pm)
LWD- RHP Jason Knapp (2-4, 4.64)
DEL- RHP Ryan O’Shea (3-2, 3.53)

Game Two (30 min following game one)
LWD- RHP Heitor Correa (2-1, 2.50)
DEL- RHP Oliver Drake (1-2, 2.78)

First…This is the first double-header of the season for the BlueClaws. They will play another double-dip on 6/20 vs Lake County at FirstEnergy Park.

Moose Crossing…Travis Mattair went 8-16 in Greensboro and is hitting .342 over his last ten games.

4:49: Weather as of now is fine…We should be able to at least play game one. Game two, we’ll see.

4:51: Jason Knapp makes his first June start tonight. He had a 1.85 ERA in April but a 7.07 ERA in May.

5:52: 0-0 to the 2nd…Knapp back-to-back Ks to end the first, both looking and both fastballs on the outside corner to right-handed hitters.

6:02: Rolling right along…0-0 to the 3rd…6 up 6 down for Knapp.

6:18: With the bases loaded and one out the BlueClaws score but the inning ends…An out recorded at 2nd on a gb off d’Arnauds bat, plates a run and records an out…then Jeremy Hamilton is caught at the plate trying to take the extra base…1-0 BlueClaws.

6:20: Knapp had been rolling along but allowed two singles in the inning, plating a run, 1-1 now as the rain continues to fall…

6:45: Knapp in and out of trouble in the 4th…still 1-1 to the 5th.

6:58: Knapp a 1-2-3 5th with Santo Hernandez warming up…1-1 to the 6th.

7:14: 1-1 to the 7th as Hernandez has a 1-2-3 6th for Lakewood…Knapp goes 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 6 K, 2 BB…a good outing…Mattair, Collier, Hanzawa for Lakewood.

7:18: ‘Claws down in order…they haven’t had a runner in scoring position since the 3rd inning…bottom 7 (remember seven inning game).

7:29: Tough loss in game one…DEL scores on a bloop infield single…wins 2-1…Over the head of Hernandez and short of Garcia…Lead down to 2.5 in North.

9:04: Still in delay but decision seems imminent…

9:22: Game two postponed due to rain…DH Friday at 5:05
