Games 58/59: BlueClaws (72-53) at Lake County (64-62)
Welcome back to Classic Park…no issues getting two in today, weather is just perfect…game notes…audio here (at 5:50)
Game One
LHP Matthew Way (2-1, 2.88)
RHP Danny Salazar (5-6, 4.52)
Game Two
RHP Rob Roth (4-3, 5.79)
RHP Trey Haley (4-7, 5.43)
Strong Bullpen…The BlueClaws bullpen has allowed just six runs in their last 34.2 innings pitched, including 7.1 shutout from Freddy Ballestas and 6.1 shutout from Santo Hernandez.
DHs…That’s double-headers…the BlueClaws are 4-6, having been swept by Lake County on Monday in a double-dip…The Captains are 5-5.
4:08: Can’t beat this weather…70s, breezy, beautiful.
6:08: BlueClaws down 1-2-3 in the first…here’s Way.
6:14: And Way the same…1-2-3 w/ three groundball outs.
6:29: FC groundout by Hamilton scores the game’s first run…almost had a 3-6 DP w/ a tag at 2nd, but Gump beat it. Had he been out, Murphy at home plate would have been awfully tight, 50/50 if the run would have scored.
6:43: LCO gets it back, plus one…RBI doubles for Webb and Tice off of Way, just elevated fastballs…2-1 top 3
6:57: 6 of the 9 outs gotten by Way have been on groundballs (one on a DP).
7:21: d’Arnaud goes d’Ar-gone…solo HR breaks 2-2 tie…3-2 Lakewood…Gose had tied it w/ an RBI single before getting thrown out stealing.
7:39: De Los Santos grounds into a double-play to end the top of the 6th…Way still in there for Lakewood, up 3-2.
7:45: 1-2-3 6th for Way…to the 7th.
8:15: ‘Claws win game one 3-2…Way: complete game (7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 5 K)
9:11: d’Arnaud puts Lakewood up 1-0 on a 4-3 groundout but Roth goes walk-walk-HR to start, then gives up two more after that…ugly start…5-1 to the 2nd.
9:30: Now 6-1…McConnell came on to start the 2nd inning after Roth’s first…McConnell had gone 8.2 straight shutout before allowing the run.
10:04: Not much to see here…7-1 Lake County, who already has 10 hits through three innings…thankfully this is a seven-inning game.
10:50: Still going along…9-1 as Adam Abraham hit a home run off Ryan Bergh in the bottom of the 5th.
11:14: Final was 10-1…Lake County had 16 hits…the 9 run loss equals a season-high for Lakewood.
