May Day
The BlueClaws turn to Trevor May tonight, having split their first two games with Hagerstown (game notes here). May, after two shaky starts, has been lights out since. He is 2-0, 2.49 over his last nine starts (second half), and he’ll need a big game tonight…
The BlueClaws have scored 52 runs in 16 games in August and are hitting .188 with runners in scoring position in their last 22 games.
May, who committed to the University of Washington before signing out of the 4th round last year, has moved up the prospect rankings with his excellent season. In fact, Jim Callis of Baseball America recently ranked May 6th on a Phillies prospect list.
Here is a July podcast with May, where May said “A change-up is always a great way to supplement a fastball. There’s no greater feeling for a pitcher than to watch a guy swing through a pitch that’s slower than he thought it was going to be.”
