After Monday’s, it’s onto Kannapolis for game one of the SAL Northern Division Championship Series, which comes on Wednesday night from the Cannon. We’re making a media pack, which we’ll put here at some point tomorrow. But to wet your appetite, here are a few nuggets…

• Legger’s Return…This week marks a return to Kannapolis for Greg Legg, who managed there (they were then called the Piedmont Boll Weevils), the Phillies SAL affiliate before Lakewood, in 2000. That year, Legger’s club (with Brett Myers, Ryan Madson, and Marlon Byrd) lost in three to Delmarva, beaten 1-0 in games two and three (by Erik Bedard).
• Fortuitous Schedule…The BlueClaws had a winning record on every day but Sunday (8-10) this year. What is the only day that a post-season game cannot be played this season? You guessed it.
• Second is First…Since 2000, when the league when to their current playoff and divisional format, a first-half champion has only won the league title twice (last in 2002).

The BlueClaws will not practice tomorrow, as the team has played for 17 straight days to end the regular season, and they’ve only had one off-day at home since July 31st (two off days, one spent in Savannah)…They will workout on Thursday at FirstEnergy Park.
