Although the Yankees won the World Series with some big names (Sabathia, A-Rod, etc.), they couldn't have made it there without homegrown players like Robinson Cano. Some of the teams with the highest payrolls are now spending on young player evaluation, and it's paying off. The '08 and '07 champs had even more recent draft picks contributing, with guys like Utley leading the way for the Phillies, and Jacoby Ellsbury igniting the Red Sox lineup.
