“Nice game by Way, no?” said BlueClaws manager Dusty Wathan.
Yep. Matthew Way, in just his second start with the BlueClaws, threw seven shutout innings on Monday night in a win over Savannah, allowing three hits and striking out 11, 10 of those were swinging.
That’s two starts for the lefty with Lakewood: 14 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 20 K.
What stands out so far: a) he doesn’t walk anybody…b) for a guy who will rarely hit 90 on the gun, he gets a ton of swings and misses, which is very impressive…c) nasty change up that he’ll throw in any count.
So far so good for Way, drafted this year out of Washington State in the 5th round.
