And They’re Off…
BlueClaws 1B Stephen Batts has issued a challenge to the team’s pitching staff. Batts thinks he could beat five out of six pitchers that he were to race in a 50 yard dash.
Batts is 1-1.
In a little team bonding event that went on earlier today, with about 20 teammates out watching (split with the hitters on one side and pitchers on the other), Batts beat Jarred Cosart by about 18 inches earlier today in the first of six. It was over at the start, however. Cosart got out of the gate a bit slow (fellow pitcher Josh Zeid was the starter), and Batts led from the first step to the last. So he’s 1-1. No word on who next next opponent will be tomorrow, but we’ll report back afterwards.
Also, we think Batts will have a very tough time beating Jacob Diekman.

Nice job by Antonio Bastardo in Lehigh Valley. I hope he didn’t unpack his bags. He was sent down yesterday when Brad Lidge was activated and called back up when Ryan Madson was placed on the DL today.
