Barnes Checks In Before Game One
Before Wednesdsay’s playoff game one at Hickory, we sat down with BlueClaws 3B Jeremy Barnes for a quick pre-game interview…
You clinched on June 20th and have been waiting since then…Ready to go? Yep we’re excited. Ready to get rolling. We’ve been waiting for a long time now. Hopefully we can get out to a good start. We’re real excited and anxious to get going.

What does it mean to come in with wins in 9 of your last 11 regular season games? It’s big. We’re coming in here playing good baseball. I’m hoping we just keep rolling, not put any pressure on ourselves, come out and take care of the little things and get going.
On playing third base tonight: I’ve done allright down there. I need to work on some things, not perfect at all. I just want to play my game. I know what to do, getting comfortable there. Just go out there and have fun.
What did you remember about Ramirez from the last time you saw him: He has a good fastball, pretty good slider. He came right after us for the most part. HOpefully we’ll get into some hitter’s counts. If not, look for the curveball. We have played 140 games this year, had a great year. They’re a really good club, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen before.
Is it important to have seen their pitcher already for the one start (Neil Ramirez, 6 IP, 1 ER on 8/25): Not a huge deal. Maybe if we had 15 or 30 at bats, but we’ve only seen this guy once. It gives you a little bit of confidence knowing that you can expect but you don’t know what how he pitched you last time means. With that game not meaning as much and this meaning a lot more, he could attack you differently. We know our strengths, we’ll try to get our pitch and put some good swings on it.
