Drabek’s Debut

2007 BlueClaws pitcher Kyle Drabek made his big league debut last night, allowing three runs in six innings at Baltimore, losing 3-1 to Brad Bergessen. Here is a report from the Toronto Sun.

“He did a good job and kept us in the ball game,” manager Cito Gaston said. “I’ve said it many times that guys who stay calm under pressure are the ones who stay up here and he stayed calm. He got in trouble a few times and gave up only three runs.”

He gave up a run in the nervous first inning, then two more in the fourth when he allowed three singles and a walk.

“It kind of felt like any other day, a normal day but it was nice to have my family here to share it,” Drabek said.

“I felt great. This team was real good about settling me down, welcoming me. It almost felt normal.”
