Have to love morning baseball and that’s what we have today for you. Lakewood tries to get to 18 games over .500 for the first time this year. Weather is perfect, first pitch at 11:05.

Great Games…While the BlueClaws have taken 11 of 17 from Hagerstown so far this year, they have only outscored the Suns 96-92 in their 17 meetings…Four of those have gone to extra innings (Lakewood has twice won 14 inning games over Hagerstown)…13 of the 17 have been decided by three runs or less (10 by two runs or less).
Driving on the Left Side of the Road…Today marks the first of five consecutive left-handed starters that the BlueClaws will face…The BlueClaws are 13-11 against left-handed starters this year (33-18 against right-handed starters)…That said, the BlueClaws are actually hitting two points higher (.268 – .266) against left- handed pitching this year.
Walk (Off) This Way…The BlueClaws have eight walk-off wins (among their 22 home wins) this year…Jiwan James, who hit a walk-off double on Tuesday, has two, including a home run on 6/16 against Lexington…The BlueClaws have won six games that they have trailed after eight innings, two more than Hickory (second in the SAL)…Lakewood’s six wins in games they trail after seven innings is also the most in the league.
11:13: Quick run for Hagerstown, as Francisco Soriano walks, steals 2nd and 3rd and scores on a throwing error by Lafrenz.
11:51: 10 in a row set aside by Shreve after the walk.
11:52: He immediately hits JP Ramirez with a curveball in the foot.
12:16: Hagerstown still looking for their first hit but they lead Lakewood 1-0 in the 6th.
12:26: A gorgeous drag bunt by Villar, a safety squeeze, ties the game 1-1.
12:32: RBI double for guess-who, Jonathan Singleton…2-1 Lakewood bottom of the 6th.
12:39: There goes the no-no. Justin Bloxom hits his 2nd home run in as many days. 2-2.
12:46: Shreve: 7 IP, 1 H, 2 R/1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K…Wertz is ready in the pen and Shreve is at 83 pitches…2-2 at the stretch.
1:00: Wasted chance there as Villar strikes out with the bases loaded to end the 7th. He chased ball 3 on 2-0.
1:30: Ellis relieves Wertz, two on and two out in the top of the ninth.
1:46: 2-2 bottom 9. On the corners for Castro. 2 outs. Can’t beat this.
2:06: A wild pitch scores Schoenberger from third. 9th walk-off win for Lakewood, this one 3-2.
