On his trip down: I flew from Williamsport to Philadelphia, and when I got to Philly there were some thunderstorms and my flight got canceled. I was sitting next to a young lady who was flying standby and she was complaining that she probably wasn’t going to get on a flight since all these flights got cancelled. She asked if I’d like a ride, she was from this area. I said ‘I’d love one’ and I got my bags and came down here…We talked about baseball and she’s a volleyball coach so we talked about that too.

Establishing the curveball for a strike: It’s a big part of my game, throwing that for a strike. The first two innings I used to kind of find my off-speed and it worked out.

With Williamsport: I started in Williamsport and played for Mickey Morandini. I’m from Chicago and I watched him growing up so it was a lot of fun playing for him.

The Draft: It’s always good to be picked by a great club and the Phillies are just that…I just wanted to get that college experience and my parents and I wanted to play in the SEC and get that experience, but this year I just felt it was time to go.

On David Buchanan (a teammate at Chipola for one year and the pitcher he replaced in the Lakewood rotation): David’s a great player and I got the chance to play with him my freshman year at Chipola and I hope the best for him.

He said he spoke to his former roomate Cody Asche who said that everyone was ok after the Williamsport team bus was in an accident late last night in Staten Island. Wright called thinking that the impact-moment of the night was a brawl during their 7-2 win over Brooklyn and found out he was mistaken.
