On a Roll

As the BlueClaws starter Garett Claypool takes the mound today, he tries to follow his three predecessors in the rotation, Mario Hollands, David Buchanan and Jesse Biddle, who have all gone seven innings without allowing an earned run in this rotation. In fact, the BlueClaws starter has thrown at least seven innings in all five games so far on this homestand.

Claypool is 2nd in the league in ERA to Buchanan but leads in WHIP and opponents batting average.

Here is the story in today’s APP on last night’s game which included an 0-4 from Shane Victorino.

“He (Biddle) did very well,” Victorino said of Biddle, the Phillies’ top pick in the 2010 draft, who pitched a career-high seven innings in the BlueClaws’ 4-1 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds in front of 7,430 on Sunday at FirstEnergy Park.

Lakewood (26-23) has won four games in a row and 10 of its last 11.

“He mixed his curveballs in good,” Victorino said. “When he threw the ball down in the zone he was very good.”
