With a Win…The BlueClaws win two games in a row on the road for the first time all season…Their series win over Delmarva was their first series win in six series on the road played thus far in 2012.
Double Your Pleasure…Brian Pointer had two of the six BlueClaws doubles on Wednesday at Delmarva…Pointer’s two hits snapped a stretch of 15 games without a multi-hit game and he was 3-39 in May before going 2-4 on Wednesday…Pointer still leads the BlueClaws in home runs with five and RBIs with 19…He was a 28th round pick in 2010 from Reno, Nevada and was committed to Oregon State before signing with the Phillies.
Back in the Swing…1B Kelly Dugan had two doubles on Wednesday and is 4-10 since being activated of the disabled list on Monday and is 4-7 over the last two games…The back-to-back multi-hit games were his 4th and 5th of the year…Dugan had been out since spraining his right ankle on April 20th at Hagerstown…C John Hill was transferred to Clearwater.
H-Mart…Harold Martinez had a two-run triple on Tuesday, and added three more hits on Wednesday …He has hit safely in his last four games, going 7-16 over that period and rasing his average from .213 to .260…The Phillies 2nd round pick last year, Martinez is the first BlueClaw ever from the University of Miami…Philadelphia had not drafted a Miami player since RHP Dave Gil in the 7th round of the 1999 draft…Pat Burrell was the top pick of the 1998 draft by the Phillies out of Miami.
Designated Hitter, Indeed…Aaron Altherr is 18-39 (.462) as the designated hitter and 17-93 (.183) when playing the field.
