On An Altherr…Aaron Altherr has hit safely in seven straight games (11-28) and 12 of his last 13 games (20-52), raising his average from .237 to .322…He has nine mutli-hit games on the season to lead the BlueClaws, four more than he had with Lakewood last year when he was here the entire first half.
Stump Speech…Bob Stumpo, who joined the BlueClaws from Clearwater on Saturday, has made an early impact with the BlueClaws, going 8-12 with 5 RBIs in his first three games…He drove in two runs as part of Lakewood’s seven run sixth inning on Sunday against Greenville and all three Lakewood runs Wednesday at Charleston…He spent the majority of last season with Williamsport, where he hit .267 with 1 home run and 23 RBIs…With Clearwater this year, he was 5-16…Stumpo has played both first base and catcher with Lakewood thus far.
Gonzo…Gustavo Gonzalez began the season 4-39, but since then, the 21 year old infielder is 11-31 with three multi-hit games since April 19th…He has hit safely in 7 of his last 9 games with the BlueClaws…Gonzlaez spent most of last year with the GCL Phillies, where he hit .275 in 26 games.
Homesick…The BlueClaws, who are 7-7 at home this year, are just 2-8 on the road, where they lost five straight games and are winless since an April 10th win at Greensboro…At home this year, the BlueClaws have scored 71 runs (average of 5) and allowed 70 runs (average of 5)…On the road, however, Lakewood has scored 41 runs (average of 4.1) and given up 71 runs (average of 7.1).
