How Would You Like to Mow the Lawn at FirstEnergy Park?

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Well, sort of…The BlueClaws have partnered with Thunder 98.5 and Ace Outdoor Power Equipment for a program called Father Mows Best, through which you can win a lawn mower or other prizes.

The race winner will recieve a Husqvarna Self Propelled Walk Behind Mower, and all runner-ups will recieve a prize back courtesy of the Lakewood BlueClaws!

Enter for a chance to join the lawn mower race, which will be held between innings at the June 19th BlueClaws game. We said “sort of” above because you won’t actually get to cut the grass, but rather race lawn mowers. Should be an awesome event…

Sign up through Thunder 98.5 by clicking here.

Happy Building!

applauseBack with another trivia contest…Again, weekly feature with various prizes including Opening Day tickets, merchandise, and other goodies. Today, however, like last week, the winner will get four tickets to Opening Day.

Answer in the comments section please…Inspired by the current late-night-tv drama…

Which former BlueClaws manager was the subject of a late-night-tv recurring joke during his Major League playing career?

Again, please answer in the comments section.

Update: It was indeed Buddy Biancalana, the subject of the Buddy Bianacalana Hit Watch on the Letterman Show, during the same time as the Pete Rose hit watch that everyone else was doing. Kevin wins the tickets. Congrats!

Trivia Contest (UPDATED: Winner)

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Back with another trivia contest…Again, weekly feature with various prizes including Opening Day tickets, merchandise, and other goodies. Today, however, like last week, the winner will get four tickets to Opening Day.

Answer in the comments section please…

He was on the first bobblehead doll the BlueClaws ever gave away.

The answer appears somewhere on BlueClaws.com (hint…look on the left side of your screen).

UPDATE: We have a winner, the answer was Buster. First to answer won the tickets. Sorry forgot to update the main post. We had it in the comments section. Another one next week.

Vote BlueClaws for Best Hot Dog!

Monday, January 11th, 2010

metromix-nominatedThe good folks at Metromix Jersey Shore are putting on a Best Of contest, and the BlueClaws have been nominated for best area hot dog.

Head over to their site and vote for us here.

The BlueClaws hot dogs were made famous in 2009 through the Kids Eat Free All Year program, which gave out 71,988 (7.95 miles officially) hot dogs for free to area children, ages 12 and under.

  • 7.95 miles is: 24 laps around the FirstEnergy Park concourse
  • 7.95 miles is: 3 laps of the Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia historic sites
  • 7.95 miles is: 4 trips across Midtown Manhattan
  • 7.95 miles is: 29 trips from bottom to top of the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower)

A personal favorite…if Joey Chestnut, who won the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest this year, ate hit dogs at the same rate he did that day (68 in 10 minutes), it would take him 7 days, 8 hours, and 26 minutes to reach 71,988.

BlueClaws & Thunder Make World Series Bet to Benefit One Lucky Fan

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

choosechampwebIt’s the first Choose Your Champ contest. As part of the first Turnpike Series, or in the case of NJ’s two affiliated Minor League Baseball teams, the 195 Series, the BlueClaws and Trenton Thunder have entered into a wager through which one lucky fan will win an all-expense paid trip to Opening Day 2010!

To enter, all you have to do is email chooseyourchamp@trentonthunder.com with the following:

  • The World Series winner
  • Number of games the series lasts
  • The MVP

We’ll take all the winners, and one will be randomly selected…Here’s the kicker…

  • If the Phillies win, the Thunder will pay for the winner’s trip to Opening Day 2010 in Philadelphia.
  • If the Yankees win, the BlueClaws will pay for the winner’s trip to Opening Day 2010 at Yankee Stadium.

Good luck!

Former ‘Claws in “Moniker Madness”

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Welcome to Round One of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament. Over the next three weeks, approximately $4 billion will be lost due to workplace inefficiency, as a direct result of these basketball games. So let’s get the ball rolling.

A couple of former BlueClaws, Tuffy Gosewisch and Ronald “Bear” Hill are in MLB.com’s Minors Moniker Madness, 64 players fighting it out for top status on the strength, not of their 3-point shooting or rebounding, but rather their names.

Gosewisch (2007) is a 10-seed and Hill (2006-07) an 11-seed. But considering the support for former BlueClaws announcer Ben Wagner in a poll regarding his possible promotion to the Los Angeles Dodgers, I think we can get Gosewisch and Hill to at least the Sweet Sixteen.

Vote early. Vote often. Vote here.

Personally, if Arquimedes Euclides Caminero doesn’t win there should be an investigation.

Also, have to give the committee some credit for a first round matchup between Jose Jose and Justin Justice. Also, nice job finding a place for Burt Reynolds, John Madden, Ernie Banks and Stephen King. And props for the parents who named their son Jetsy and another couple with son Waskal.

Enjoy, and remember to use the Boss Button when watching hoops in the workplace.
